The short version. If you called a business after hours and nobody answered, you may get a text from us on their behalf asking what you need. Reply STOP to end it. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
Program description
BENTOOL, operated by OBENTO-YASAN LLC, sends text messages on behalf of local service businesses that use our service. The program has one purpose: to respond to a person who telephoned one of those businesses outside its opening hours and did not reach anyone.
A message asks what the caller needs, answers questions about the business’s services and price ranges, and may offer a link to book an appointment. Replies after the first message are generated by an AI system using information supplied by that business.
These messages are transactional. They respond to an inquiry the recipient started themselves. This program does not send marketing, promotions, offers, or newsletters.
Who receives messages, and why
You receive a message only if you placed a voice call to a participating business’s own published phone number, during that business’s closed hours, and the call went unanswered. The message goes only to the number you called from.
Your phone call is the reason we contact you. We do not buy, rent, upload, or otherwise obtain phone numbers from any third party for this program, and we never text anyone who has not called one of our client businesses first.
Message frequency
Frequency varies and depends on the conversation. A typical inquiry involves roughly one to five messages, and a single conversation is capped at twelve. You will not receive messages about an inquiry once it has been resolved, and you will not receive recurring or scheduled messages.
Cost
We do not charge you anything. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your plan and your mobile carrier.
How to stop messages
Reply STOP to any message. You may also reply STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT. Opting out takes effect immediately and automatically, and you will receive one confirmation message. After that we will not text you on behalf of that business again, including if you call them again later, unless you reply START to resume.
Opting out applies to the business you called. Each participating business is a separate sender.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any message and you will get a reply identifying the business and how to reach us. You can also email hello@bentool.co at any time.
This is not an emergency service
Nobody monitors these conversations live. Messages are automated, and the business is closed. If you are dealing with a gas leak, a carbon monoxide alarm, smoke, fire, or anything else that puts people at risk, hang up and call 911 rather than waiting for a reply.
Carriers and delivery
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and your device, and we cannot guarantee that any individual message arrives. Text messaging is not available on landline numbers; if you called from a landline we cannot text you, and the business will be told to call you back instead.
Privacy
What we hold, who sees it, and how long we keep it is set out in our Privacy Policy. In short: your number and the messages, kept 12 months; records showing we had reason to text you and honored any opt-out, kept 5 years; never sold.
Changes
If these terms change we will update the date at the top of this page.
